How do I even pick a lawyer after my accident? Every search just gives me ads
So I got hit about three weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure out what to do next. I was driving through a green light when someone blew through the cross street and T-boned me on the passenger side. The impact pushed my car halfway into the curb and I had to wait for a tow. My whole driver's side door frame is bent.
I thought I walked away okay — adrenaline I guess — but two days later I woke up with serious stiffness in my neck and a headache that wouldn't quit. Went to urgent care, got X-rays, and now I'm doing follow-up appointments for what they're calling a cervical strain. Nothing broken but it's been really uncomfortable and I've missed a couple of shifts at work.
The other driver's insurance company called me within like 48 hours. Super friendly, asking me to "just walk them through what happened." I didn't give a recorded statement — something felt off about how eager they were — but now I'm getting follow-up emails asking me to submit my medical bills directly to them.
I want to find a personal injury attorney but honestly every Google search just spits out sponsored ads and billboard lawyers. I have no idea how to tell who's actually good at this versus who just has a big marketing budget.
Does anyone have advice on what to look for when vetting a PI attorney? Like what questions should I even be asking during a consultation? I'm in a mid-size metro area so there are options, I just don't want to hand my case to someone who's going to ghost me or lowball a settlement.
