Someone hit my car in a parking lot and actually left a note — I'm genuinely shocked

I just need to share this because honestly it restored a little bit of my faith in humanity.

Went to the grocery store yesterday, maybe 45 minutes tops. Come back out and I can immediately see my rear quarter panel is crumpled. My stomach just dropped. I've had a hit-and-run before and that whole experience was a nightmare — police report, uninsured motorist claim, the works. I started mentally bracing for round two of all that.

But then I notice something tucked under my wiper blade. A handwritten note. Full name, two phone numbers, and even an apology written out. Like an actual, sincere apology. They said they felt terrible and wanted to make it right.

I called the number right there in the parking lot and the person picked up immediately. Super cooperative, already planning to call their insurance before I even asked. We exchanged everything we needed in about ten minutes.

I know this forum sees a lot of the ugly side of accidents — people fleeing scenes, adjusters lowballing, the whole mess. And yeah, I'll still be keeping a close eye on how the claim unfolds because I know it's not always smooth even when the other driver is cooperative. But I just wanted to put something positive out here.

Sometimes people do the right thing even when nobody's watching. That matters.

Has anyone else had a surprisingly decent experience after an accident? Would love to hear it. 🙏
