T-boned at an intersection this morning and I can't stop shaking
I don't even really know why I'm posting this. I think I just need to feel like someone out there understands what I'm going through right now.
It happened a few hours ago — I was heading through a green light on my way to work and a pickup just blew straight through the red on the cross street and slammed into my driver's side door. The impact spun my car around and I ended up halfway onto the curb. I remember the airbag hitting my face and then just... silence.
The paramedics checked me out on the scene and said I seemed okay, but I'm home now and I genuinely cannot stop trembling. My hands keep shaking when I try to do normal things like make tea or scroll my phone. My neck and left shoulder are really stiff and sore and there's a dull pressure behind my eyes that won't quit.
The other driver got cited at the scene which I guess is something, but it doesn't really make me feel better right now. My car is almost certainly totaled — I could see the frame was bent just looking at it.
I went ahead and filed a claim but honestly insurance stuff feels so overwhelming in this moment. I don't even know what questions I should be asking or what I'm supposed to do next.
Mostly I just wanted to write this out somewhere and have people who get it read it. Has anyone else felt this shell-shocked after a crash? Does the shaking eventually stop? I feel kind of stupid for being this rattled when I technically "walked away."
